Here is a new strategy I’m working on for Battlefield 2, it’s still a work in progress, and I’m still working out the details, so use caution and don’t be afraid to make adjustments.
To have any chance at making this Battlefield 2 strategy work you will need a map with several pieces of heavy armor and as usual a group of 6 or more people willing to work together and stay together. It also helps if you have a watchful commander who will drop supply crates during key battles when needed.
The mission: Take flags, repair/heal your teammates and stationary equipment such as the artillery and UAV trailer, and last but not least frag all enemy who come within range.
Crew and Equipment Set up: For this one I think that at least three or more squads with 2 men in each squad would best make up the team/convoy. The Armored Convoy should consist of the following
- 3 to 6 squads (2 men per squad)
- one tank or other armored vehicle per squad
- 2 engineers per squad
- 1 medic or support in every 3rd squad
** I recommend that one of the squads should include a medic. (you could also add a support class if you have enough squads)
Once you have found a map with enough tanks, and you have rounded up your crew of 6 to 10 Battlefield 2 troops then it’s time to set up the squads. Each squad should have 2 men in it. The each squad leader will always be the driver, the other member of the squad will be the gunner, gunners will always spawn on the leader so as not to be separated by spawning at a base away from the convoy (just wait to spawn on the leader if you die, you’ll be back faster than if you spawn at base and travel back to the squad). The best mix of classes is still up for debate, but I think that 5 engineers for every medic or support class would work well.
The idea of this attack is that the armored convoy has to stay together, go turn flags, and travel within range of the engineers in the other vehicles. If everyone stays together then all of the tanks will be constantly being healed by the other tanks making the group much harder to take out then if they travel alone. With 8 people in range of a flag it turns very fast, the same can be said for the speed at which the tanks heal when there are 6 engineers in range.
If you are in the gunner position, keep an eye out for mines and c4 as they are capable of taking out the convoy or at least breaking up your convoy. Once your convoy is split up you are no longer under repair and very vulnerable, Stay Together!!
Add a the Chopper Whore Squad for air cover and assistance and you really have a team who strikes fear into hearts of the enemy, (the chopper can hover to repair or be repaired as part of the Armor Convoy also when needed) and if you are fortunate enough to have a commander watching your activities you will be blessed with UAV and health crates just when you need them most.
If you try this or any of the OMC Headquarters Strategies please let us know how they worked out for you, and if you have any suggestions please let me know. |
